Registered for my classes today for the next (Winter) quarter. Due to budget cuts there are now more students than classes available. The priority goes to those with the most credits. Because I took classes over the Summer, I have a little more credits than many in my year and therefore get a day or two ahead to register. I was up at 5am (earliest possible time) to register online and guess what? The system was DOWN! I went back to sleep, went for my run, came back for breakfast and a shower before it was finally up. I got all the classes I wanted (Woo Hoo!). Big sigh of relief!
I can't believe the price I'm paying for the education/fun that I'm getting. $17/credit, at 17.5 credit next quarter it's costing me less than $400 (don't forget the misc fees). It's just incredible considering how much I've had to pay to get my bachelor's degree. The international students sure get the worst deal.
I'm very excited about the classes I'll be taking next quarter. I had so much fun this quarter; loved all of my classes most of the time and the professors in the Animation department are wonderful. I feel a little sad that I won't be taking anymore class in the Art department, but I gotta focus on learning more about animation and filming. I still have tons of art supplies so I'll be looking to do more art work in my spare time.
So without further due, here are the classes I've registered for:
Basic Digital Film/Video Production
Sound for Animation
History of Animation
Animation Storyboard
Drawing for Animation (Human Figure)
I also wanted to take Intermediate 3D Animation using Maya (I took the introductory course over the summer), but it got canceled.
This week (and next week) I'm head down on final projects. Immediately after we're leaving for New Zealand. We get back two days before my classes start, then it's the Kaiser Half in early February. There are so many things going on I'm practically delirious with excitement. Breath, must breath.
Life is really good right now. Just need to remember to breath, and eat lots of carbs, and drink lots of water, and don't forget the kids on the way to the airport.
Wow I can't believe how many different classes you can take about animation! Sounds like lots of fun.
ReplyDeleteIt is really great you are doing all these things now. Most people, including present speaker, can't imagine taking these big steps. You making them possible gives hope to people like me. I only take steps when I am forced to do so. Good job!
ReplyDeleteThanks Serena! I've known for a number of years that I will eventually switch career, I just didn't know when. Earlier this year I found myself at a place where I felt there was no future for me. It was either staying put and be miserable, find another job or take it as the opportunity (and sign) that it's time to take action. It's better sooner than later. I'm just lucky that Russ is 100% supportive and we have the means to make this possible.
ReplyDeleteI was peeking at your artwork just now and *loved* the b&w tiger sketch!
