Website revamped, flu (almost) defeated

After nearly a year since the inception of my noveychou.com website I finally updated it. It's really a revamp of the entire site since I now understand better how an animator's website content should be organized. This past year I have done a lot of animation work so I was able to add some of it to the content. During the process I realized that I sorely lacked work in 2D that's worth showcasing. Hopefully that'll change by end of September as I have several ideas I've been wanting to do in Flash.

I still have not come up with an idea for my personal film. I have several that are not well thought out. One of them is an adaptation of a short story by a Chinese author Lillian Lee (李碧華);  best known for her book Farewell My Concubine (霸王別姬) which was adapted into an Academy-nominated feature film. The first time I read the story it haunted me for days. It took a while before I was able to go back and reread it. It would be very challenging and controversial to do an adaptation of it. I decided that I will save that as a future film project. My other ideas are scattered and not very inspiring. Even though it is my first personal film and likely not to be my best, I do want it to be a story that I'm eager to tell as that's what will motivate me to continue when it gets really hard.

I'm currently taking just one class, Contemporary World Animation. I like the class but hate that it's in the evenings. In the Fall I will be taking a film class where I will be making live-action films. That will be a new and different kind of challenge, working with real objects, scenes and people. We'll see what kind of a director I'll make.
